We hope you all had a great summer and are ready for an exciting political season!

Join us September 20th as we hear from W. Erik Bruvold, the founding President of the National University System Institute for Policy Research. Mr. Bruvold will be sharing some interesting insights on the proposed tax hike and other issues in San Diego politics.

Networking will begin at 6:30pm, with business starting promptly at 7:00 pm. Admission …is $10 for members (non-members $15), which includes the meeting and food. Get there early and take advantage of the All American Grill’s great happy hour (3-6pm)

Some more information on Erik Bruvold:
W. Erik Bruvold, the founding President of the National University System Institute for Policy Research has guided the institute through its first three years of operations, conducting several widely cited public policy and economic research reports on the San Diego region. Prior to joining NUSIPR, he was Vice President of Public Policy for the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corporation (EDC) where he oversaw the organization’s public policy efforts on a range of issues impacting San Diego’s business climate. Among Erik’s achievements at the EDC was his leadership of the successful effort to extend the TransNet sales tax for transportation investment and his leadership of the successful regional response to the 2005 round of military base closures and realignments (BRAC 2005). Prior to joining EDC, Erik was Executive Director for the San Diego chapter of the American Electronics Association. He has served on several boards, including the Lincoln Club of San Diego, the North County Economic Development Corporation, the East County Economic Development Corporation and the San Diego Association of Government’s Transnet Citizens Advisory Committee. He holds a Bachelors of Arts with Highest Honors from the University of Denver and a Masters of Arts in Political Science with High Honors from the University of California, San Diego.

For our September Happy Hour we are heading to East Village Tavern to enjoy some great drinks, show off our bowling skills and of course, the watch the Chargers game.

Kickball and Beer; how can you go wrong?


It’s summertime and that means it’s time for  one of our favorite events, SDYR’s 2nd Annual Kickball Game!

The SDYR Kickball rules are little different than what you may remember from grade school. We’ll just say that it’s kickball all grown up…

So bring your best grade school kickballing skills, your love of beer and join us at Kate Sessions Park on August 14th.

There has been a change in our June Happy Hour location. We will NOT be holding our Happy Hour on June 3rd at Karl Strauss as planned (we will move it to July).  However, we have an opportunity that you won’t want to miss!

Congressman Bilbray has invited all of our members to join him as his guests at his fundraising event on June 3rd at Stone Brewery!  The event is complimentary for SDYR’s but you MUST RSVP.

Come ready to have some good beer, talk some good politics and meet with one of our local Congressmen!

Due to the fact that this is an official event I will need everyone to RSVP directly to my e-mail andrew.lund@sdyoungrepublicans.com so that we can add you to the list.  Although this is a fundraiser there is no obligation to contribute but if you would like to feel free!
